NILES - Since the beginning of the school year students in Emilee Lake's second grade class at Niles' Howard School have been playing their own version of the game Survivor.
Twenty-three students started in the game and 12 were left standing when all was said and done.
Throughout the game the students made a collage of community workers which included police, firemen and utilities workers and what they do in their job each day. They also asked family members and others at school what their favorite variety of apple is and then created a graph during the week of Niles Apple Festival.
The class had a wonderful time working on the different projects and it was great to see them working together, Lake added.
Classmate Asyria Geegan's favorite thing she learned from the different projects was about Christopher Columbus.
The ultimate reward for the 12 winners of the game is for them to receive McDonald's for lunch.
