CONSTANTINE — The Buchanan baseball and softball teams both advanced to the Division 3 district semifinals with wins on Tuesday.
The Bucks held off Berrien Springs 6-4 in softball to advance to face Centreville at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Brandywine will take on host Constantine at 12:30 p.m.
Buchanan defeated arch rival Brandywine 6-1 in baseball to move into the semifinals against host Constantine at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Bucks led 6-0 in softball before the Shamrocks scored four times in the sixth to make it close.
“We hit the ball well tonight and got key hits when we had runners on, which is right where we want to be,” said Buchanan coach Rachael Carlson. “Berrien always gives us their best and they work hard to push some runs toward the end. We are going to have to keep playing tight defense and get timely hits to keep after the district title. We are playing our best ball of the year which is what we have prepared for.”
Sophie Lozmack picked up the win and Megan Adkerson doubled for the Bucks.
In baseball, Jacob Hoover picked up the win with relief help from Brad VanOverbreghe.
