Brandywine seniors visit elementary schools

NILES — Brandywine High School seniors Chase Newman, Tyler Stutzman and Josh Wolfinger may be happy to graduate Sunday, but they will all miss one part of their educational experience most: language arts teacher David Brenneman.
Other than leaving Brenneman and some of the friends they made, the seniors are otherwise excited to be graduating Sunday with 56 other classmates.
“I’m glad I’m no longer working here,” said Newman, who will be enlisting in the army.
Newman, Stutzman and Wolfing walked through Brandywine schools with the other members of the Class of 2019 Tuesday. The event was meant to celebrate their success and to pay homage to the school district they went through, as the seniors walked through classroom halls one last time.
The seniors were led from hallway to hallway by Brandywine’s high school marching band at the school district’s combined middle and high school. The sound of the Bobcats’ fight song echoed throughout. Underclassmen stepped out of the classroom to watch and cheer their peers on.
The senior/marching band line then left the school, still wearing their caps and gowns, and walked to the school district’s two elementary schools.
Nicole Sachman said leaving Brandywine is bittersweet. While she is excited to go to Lakeland University in Plymouth, Wisconsin, she will miss not being able to see her friends each school day.
“It’s such a close-knit community,” she said.
Assistant principal Josh Hood thought of the Class of 2019 as a strong group of individuals as well.
“A small but wonderful class who has made a positive difference in our school and community,” he said.
