Roundup: Rangers, Bobcats, Bucks sending individuals to state finals

CASSOPOLIS — The Cassopolis track team will send just two individuals to the Division 4 state meet June 1 in Baldwin.

Lauren Anderson qualified for the 1,600-meters with a time of 5:51.47 at the Division 4 regional at Gobles last Friday. That time earned her a runner-up finish to Southwest 10 Conference foe Emma Pachay of Marcellus.

Lance Francis, competing in track for the first time as a senior, qualified for the long jump after finishing second with a leap of 19-4.5.

Division 3 track

NILES — Brandywine will send a pair of individuals to the Division 3 state finals in Jenison June 1.

Buchanan will send two individuals and its girls 400-meter relay team to the finals.

Brandywine qualified Jaden Croom in the long jump and Brycen Duffield in the discus.

Croom went 20-3 to finish second in the long jump, while Duffield had a toss of 138-4 to finish third in the discus.

Qualifying for the boys team was Walker Barz in the 3,200-meters. He finished second with a time of 10:33.58.

Girls individual qualifiers was Claire Lietz in the pole vault. She cleared nine feet to finish tied for second.

Lietz will join Shailin Golden, Jade Smith and Lauren Strefling on the relay team. That team was second at the Division 3 regional at Centreville with a time of 54.43.
