LETTER: Food pantry shelves are stocked once more

Published 9:31 am Monday, May 20, 2019

Thank you does not come close to expressing how grateful the Niles Area Food Pantries are for the support received this past weekend for the annual Postal Food Drive. Your generous response allowed us to distribute more than 17,000 pounds of much needed food and dry good to our pantry shelves.

Your thoughtfulness will help to feed hundreds of families who are less fortunate. For the immediate future, our pantry shelves are again stocked.

This effort would not have been successful without the efforts of the local postal workers and our teams of dedicated volunteers. We would like to thank the companies which donated food for our volunteers at the post office including Subway, KFC, Front Street Pizza, Pizza Transit and Milano’s Pizza. A special thank you to the Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union and Michiana Christian Embassy Church for the volunteers they supplied in this effort to support our community.

From the postal carries, the volunteers who helped the carriers unload, weigh and then load the donations for transport to the pantries, the drivers who delivered it to each pantry and to the angels who sorted it all and placed it upon the shelves, “thank you” just doesn’t seem enough to convey our heartfelt appreciation.

We truly couldn’t have made this happen without all of you.

Need knows no season, and we stand ready to step up to assist with emergency services and grocery assistance. Please continue to support us through your love offerings, prayers and ongoing donations of current (not out dated) non-perishable, shelf stable foods. There is no greater testimony to one’s love of Christ than to serve others. Thank you all!
