NILES — Registration is open for Summer My Way Day Camp and officials are still looking to fill spots.
This academic-based camp focuses on objectives of improving academic success, increasing minutes of physical activity, and increasing social responsibility.
Summer My Way will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24 to Aug. 2 at Ballard Elementary School in Niles. Before and after care will be available. Camp is open to students of all school districts currently enrolled in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. Biweekly cost for camp is $130 for Niles Community School students and $260 for community members. Transportation to and from camp can be provided. Financial aid is available for those who apply.
Summer My Way, now in its sixth year, has more than 30 partners assisting in the development, funding, and implementation of the program.
Youth have the ability to choose courses at registration. Through these tracks and specials, students will have the opportunity to learn about everything from nutrition education and physical activity to writing and science — all in a safe environment that seeks to make learning fun. Continued curriculum partnerships with Fernwood, Kalamazoo Air Zoo, and city of Niles Water Treatment, to name a few, help make this possible, officials said.
