Starting next week, there will be a change to how we select the players for the Athlete Showcase.

The Friday feature has had some issues getting players to submit forms, so I am going to be asking for your help in selecting what is basically the Athlete of the Week, who will then be featured on Friday in the Niles Daily Star and Dowagiac Daily News.

At the end of each week, I will go through the top performers and select four athletes, which will be posted as poll questions on both our website leaderpub.com and on our Facebook fans pages — Niles, Dowagiac and Leader Publications Sports.

I will need you to vote for the top athlete for both Dowagiac and Niles.

They will then be featured on Friday as we have previously done.

I want to thank you in advance for helping us make this transformation. I feel this is a great opportunity for our readers to interact with their favorite paper online.

You can then pick up a Friday paper if you do not already have a subscription and see if your pick was the winner.

Hopefully this change will improve our content for the readers.

I will be looking for more ways to get our readers involved, both with the printed product and our online presence.

After all, this really is your newspaper.

I am hoping that many of you will take the chance to become involved.
