Daly records hat trick in victory

DOWAGIAC — Senior Kellyn Daly scored all three goals as host Dowagiac defeated Berrien Springs 3-1 in non-conference soccer Friday.
“I thought the girls did a nice job tonight,” said Dowagiac coach Chad Davis. “We had many passing combinations and won a lot of 50-50 balls. I believe that was the difference in the game.”
Dowagiac had 19 shots on goal.
Khloie Goins recorded 12 saves.

Visiting Dowagiac was swept by Plainwell 9-0 and 6-2 in a Wolverine Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon.
The Chieftains (4-8) were held to two hits in the first game by the Trojans, who finished with 11 hits.
Hunter Brackensick started and took the loss for Dowagiac. Deshawn Brooks came on in relief in the sixth inning.
In the nightcap, Dowagiac managed six hits, but it was not enough.
Tyler Huston had a double for the Chieftains.
Duan Simpson started and took the loss. Cody Dorman came on in relief in the sixth inning.
The Chieftains travel to Watervliet Tuesday.
