Edwardsburg sweeps pair for Niles

NILES — Visiting Edwardsburg used a six-run second inning to set the tone in a sweep of Niles Thursday.

The Eddies (8-3) won the first game 14-2 in six innings before completing the sweep with a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.

Edwardsburg banged out 13 hits against a trio of Niles pitchers.

Connor Ostrander and Jonah Sibley both doubled twice for the Eddies, who also got doubles from Mac Gaideski, Caden Goggins, Colby Sidenbender and Zach Stryker.

A.J. Obren worked the first five plus innings for the win. Drew Bidwell came on to get the final two outs of the contest

The two combined on a three-hitter.

Cade Vota, Kyle Beckwith and Mason Waggoner all collected singles for Niles.

In the nightcap, Zach Closson and Bidwell combined on a one-hitter. Closson worked the first five innings with Bidwell pitching the sixth.

The Eddies had five hits in the game, led by Bryce Blue, who was 2-for-3 with a double. Sidenbender also had two hits.

Kade Wagley had the lone hit for the Vikings.
