NILES - It's the time of year when gift giving is on everyone's mind. A great place to shop for gifts is at the stores of downtown Niles.
Some of the downtown merchants have seen boost in their sales already, but others think it will likely be a tight holiday.
Marazita said most people in the area know Veni's has great products which are reasonably priced.
Mardy Grzegorek, of Majerek's Hallmark Readers World, has a little different outlook on the holiday shopping season.
Christenson said she hopes that it's going to be a good holiday shopping season this year and that business does pick up in downtown Niles for everyone.
Croteau would like to remind community members of the Downtown Holly Trolley Hop which is every Friday until Christmas. Many of the downtown merchants are staying open later for this weekly event. The Dial-a-Ride trolley will be available from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 9 and 16, for shoppers to ride at no charge. The trolley will pick shoppers up at various street corners within the downtown district.
