Leo B. Curtis, 76, of Niles, passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 9, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Niles to the late Leo B. and Carol (Petersen) Curtis.
Leo graduated from Niles High School, class of 1961. Leo ran track throughout high school and held a school record until 2008 when his grandson broke the record. He married Glenda Brooks at a ceremony in Niles in 1963.
He was retired from K & M Machine and Fab, Inc. in Cassopolis where he was a welder for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, feeding and watching birds and collecting beer cans and steins. Leo was an avid outdoorsman always looking forward to an opportunity for fishing, hunting and mushrooming. Leo was a lifelong Cubs fan and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life and a genuine smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo B. Curtis and Carol Thomas; a sister, Carol Ann Mansfield.
Leo is survived by his wife, Glenda Curtis, of Niles; his children, Debra (Tracey) Smith, of Niles, Deanna (David) Del Muro, of Niles and Duane (Donna) Curtis, of Cassopolis; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step-great-grandchildren and his siblings, Bobbie (Joe) Benak, of Buchanan and Bill (Sue) Mansfield, of Niles.
A memorial service will be at noon on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Brown Funeral Home with a time of visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
