Traffic stop leads to meth arrests in Dowagiac

DOWAGIAC — Three were arrested on meth-related charges Tuesday in Dowagiac.
The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announced that on Tuesday, detectives observed a vehicle leaving a suspected drug house in the city of Dowagiac. Detectives alerted Dowagiac police officers who stopped the vehicle at E. Division and Cedar streets in Dowagiac.
The vehicle was occupied by a 26-year-old male, a 25-year-old male and female, and a 44-year-old female, all out of Dowagiac. As occupants were being spoken to, the 44-year-old female attempted to flee but was apprehended after a very short foot chase. The 44-year-old female attempted to destroy methamphetamine paraphernalia during her flight attempt.
Methamphetamine paraphernalia was located on the 25-year-old female, and a bag containing methamphetamine was located that belonged to the 25-year-old male.
The 25-year-old male and female were taken to the Cass County Jail and lodged on charges of possession of methamphetamine. The 44-year-old female was lodged on charges of possession of methamphetamine, resisting and obstructing an officer and, destruction of evidence.
The suspects’ names are being withheld pending arraignment.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
