Billie Maxine Smith-Reid took her first breath in heaven at 6:39 p.m. Feb. 11, 2019.
She was born April 6, 1930, in Trumann, Arkansas, to the late Clarence and Ethel Vickery.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert Smith and her son, Sammy Wayne Smith.
She has six other children from that union surviving her, Gary Smith, Brenda Taylor, Rhonda Walker, Steve Smith, Jeff Smith, and Chris Smith. Billie was a devoted loving mother who served God faithfully and enjoyed her last eight years being married to Harold Reid. Her union with Harold added 5 more children into the family. She is the matriarch of a family totaling 106 individuals and lived to see the 4th generation. She touched so many and her legacy lives in our hearts.
Billie is also survived by her brother, Bob Vickery; sister, Lena Lundlow; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ethel; brothers, Earl, Charles, and Paul Vickery; step-son, Harold Reid Jr., grandson, Jeremy Haynes; and great-grandsons, Alan Mikel and Dawson Eliason.
Visitation for Billie will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan and one hour prior to the service at Coulter’s Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at Coulter’s Chapel Church of God, 3176 E. Detroit Rd., Niles, MI 49120.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Donations may be made to a favorite charity of your choice or by sending flowers. Online condolences may be made at hovenfunerals.com.
