SMC offering informal nursing information sessions

DOWAGIAC — Southwestern Michigan College is asking residents to visit the college when it is convient for them next week SMC Nursing and Health Services will host two information sessions next week.

The first session takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, with the second offered frm 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20.

Both take place in Mathews Conference Center West in the library building on the Dowagiac campus, followed by optional tours of the new $9.6-million Nursing and Health Education Building featuring modern classrooms and the latest in health education technology.

Faculty and academic advisors will be on hand to review admission requirements and to answer questions about all of SMC’s health care programs, including phlebotomy, medical assisting and health information technology.

SMC is a public, residential and commuter community college founded in 1964. The college delivers above-average graduation/transfer rates compared to other community colleges nationally and student college-level course success that is consistently in the top 25 percent of two-year colleges nationally, according to college representatives. The college is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges.
