DOWAGIAC — The Cass County Fair will be stepping back into history at an upcoming event.

Becky Moore will present A History of the Cass County Fair at the Dowagiac Area History Museum on Wednesday, October 3 at 6:30 p.m. The lecture is part of the Fall Lecture Series, which runs through December.

Becky Moore, an accountant by trade, is the unofficial historian of the Cass County Fair. She has been collecting Cass County Fair memorabilia for many years and has acquired an extensive collection of photos, programs, premiums and other artifacts that document the fair’s history.

Though the world has changed dramatically since the first Cass County Fair in 1851, some aspects of the county fair remain unchanged — including the goal of showcasing prize livestock. Moore’s program will focus on the first 100 years of the Cass County Fair.
