DOWAGIAC —  The Dowagiac District Library recently launched the Tutor.com Career Center. The new program offers job seekers live, one-to-one help from professional career tutors online, according to library staff. Any community member with a Dowagiac District Library card can access the service from the library or from home from any computer or mobile device connected to the Internet.

The live, online career tutoring and resume writing service is available from 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. It is completely free for library card holders in our community.

Tutor.com is an award-winning online homework help and learning service that connects students and adults to a professional tutor for one-to-one help.  Tutor.com is offered at over 1,800 public libraries across the country and is available statewide in Alaska, Alabama, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota and Rhode Island.  The network of more than 2,300 expert tutors has conducted over 7 million sessions.

With the program job seekers work one-to-one with professional tutors in a supportive and encouraging environment for help with job searching, resume writing, interview preparation and much more, library staff said. The Tutor.com Career Center also includes 24/7 access to resources such as resume templates, cover letter samples, and online job search tools — even local open job listings.

To access the service, patrons visit the library’s website at dowagiacdl.org and click on the Tutor.com Career Center.

“The library has offered job-hunting resources for quite some time,” said Library Director Matt Weston. “I’m glad we have been able to expand these resources to include live, one-on-one help with career counselors.”
