Rangers get defensive in win over Cardinals

BLOOMINGDALE — A 40-point opening quarter kept the Cassopolis Rangers undefeated in Southwest 10 Conference football Friday night.

The Rangers rolled to an 82-6 victory over host Bloomingdale.

Cassopolis (4-0) opened the scoring with a pair of fumble returns for touchdowns.

Hunter Parsons and Ahsan Hart picked up the fumbles to give the Rangers an 16-0 lead after the two-point conversions were successful.

Also scoring in the opening quarter were Tyrese Hunt-Thompson on an 80-punt return, Parsons on a 52-yard interception return and a Dylan Green to Ky’ante Buck pass good for 40 yards.

The Rangers tacked on 21 points in the second quarter to take a 61-0 lead into the locker room. The second half was played under a running clock.

Cassopolis picked up another defensive touchdown on an Ahsan Hart 28-yard fumble return.

Darrion Gatson and J.J. Hart scored on runs of 71 and 20 yards.

In the third quarter, Hunt-Thompson returned the opening kickoff 82 yards, while Owen Gardner scored on a 60-yard run to end the third quarter and Mason Polomcak capped the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Rangers host Muskegon Catholic Central at 7 p.m. on Friday.
