Three people arrested with charges related to possession of marijuana, methamphetamine

DOWAGIAC — Three people were arrested Monday after a police search of a Dowagiac residence uncovered drugs, firearms and drug paraphernalia.

A search warrant was executed Monday in the 200 block of E. High St. on suspicion that the sale and use of methamphetamine was taking place there. Upon searching a Dowagiac residence, Cass County Drug Enforcement Team detectives located drugs and drug paraphernalia in the downstairs area.

At the residence, detectives located more than 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine, more than an ounce of MDMA, some marijuana and various paraphernalia for the use of methamphetamine.  A rifle and a pistol were also located in the upstairs of the residence. The pistol that was located came back stolen out of Mishawaka.

A search was also conducted on the vehicle at the residence, where detectives located scales, materials for packaging, more than four ounces of marijuana, some methamphetamine and several hundred dollars in cash. 

Two women, 28 and 30 years old, respectively, were arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of MDMA and maintaining a drug house.  A 21-year-old man was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, felony firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. 

Charges are being sought on individuals not present at the time of the search warrant. The investigation is still ongoing at this time. 

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team was assisted on scene by the Cass County Warrant Service Team, the Dowagiac Police Department, K9 Tolle, and the Pokagon Tribal Police Department.
