Pastel artist to present at Niles Art Association meeting
NILES — The Niles Art Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Community Room of the Niles District Library, 620 E. Main St., Niles.
Catherine McCormick, founder and president of the Northern Indiana Pastel Society, will present “Luscious Landscapes in Soft Pastel.” McCormick’s work seeks to focus on the landscape as a serene counterpart to our urban culture and hectic lives.
She teaches pastels and drawing at the South Bend Museum of Art, Battell Center in Mishawaka and in regional workshops, including Buchanan Art Center, Fernwood and MoonTree Studios. Soft pastels have been her favorite medium since 1986. Meetings are free and open to the public. Show and tell are always welcome. Four Flags Snowmobile Club to meet Sept. 5
NILES — The Four Flags Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Chamber of Commerce Building (lower level, enter from alleyway), 321 Main St., Niles. This is the first meeting for the 2018-2019 season. New members are always welcome and needed to help keep the trails going, officials said.

St. Mark Catholic Parish to host Fall Italian Night
NILES — St. Mark Catholic Parish will host a Fall Italian Night from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Three N. 19th St. in Niles. There will be pasta, a salad bar and dessert.
Cost: $10 for adults and $5 for children. Children 5 and under eat for free. For tickets call the church at (269) 683-8650.
