NILES — The Niles History Center and Niles District Library will co-host a pop up museum event from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13.

The event will take place in the Library Rotunda at 620 E. Main St. The theme for the night is School Days. Participants are invited to display their elementary, high school or college memorabilia, past and present, and to dress in school colors. A pop up museum is a temporary exhibit created by the people who show up to participate.

The museum will seek to offer a fun and unique way to experience the past. Attendees are asked to bring items related to the theme of schools for a one-night, temporary exhibit. The public is encouraged to tour the exhibit and reminisce about School Days, even if they do not bring anything for display. Items from the collections of the Fort St. Joseph Museum and the Library will also be part of the show.

History Center Director Christina Arseneau said she thought it would be a fun community activity.

“The Pop Up Museum event is a change from our regular lecture series,” Arseneau said. “We want to give the public a chance to exhibit their items and share them with others. Whether you want to show off your high school letterman jacket, yearbooks or class pictures, the pop up Museum will offer you an opportunity to do so.”
