ROUNDUP: Chieftain golfers finish third

SOUTH HAVEN — Despite not having one of its top golfers Monday, Dowagiac finished third at the season-opening Wolverine Conference Jamboree hosted by South Haven at HawksHead.
Sturgis won the jamboree with a team total of 194, while Plainwell was second with a 209 and Dowagiac third with a 215.
Rebecca Franklin was the runner-up with a round of 44.
Cassooplis soccer
CASSOPOLIS — The host Rangers improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-1 non-conference soccer victory over visiting Bridgman Monday.
The Rangers scored a pair of first-half goals and then exploded for four goals in the final 40 minutes of play.
Buster Ward had both first-half goals, scoring in the 20th and 37th minutes. Brett Williams and Enrique Matamoros assisted on the goals.
In the second half, Williams scored in the 57th and 66th minutes before Lane Francis scored the final two goals in the 69th and 74th minutes.
Bridgman’s Jayden Pribyl averted the shutout for the Bees with a goal in the 74th minute.
The Rangers are back in action today as they travel to Bloomingdale to open up Southwest 10 Conference play.
Edwardsburg soccer
STEVENSVILLE — After a scoreless first half, host Lakeshore got a pair of goals in the final 40 minutes to edge Edwardsburg 2-1 in a non-conference soccer match Monday night.
Remi Beaufils and Mikey Tibbitts scored for the Lancers.
Aaron Toms had the lone goal for the Eddies.
Edwardsburg hosts Niles today at 5:30 p.m.
