Robert Tracey, Jr., 58, of Sheffield Avenue, Niles, died at 12:07 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. John W. Schindler of Stevensville, officiating.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at the funeral home.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1951, in Niles, to Robert J. Tracey, Sr. and Doris W. (Sager) Tracey. He graduated from Niles High School and has lived in this area all of his life.
He had been employed at Express One in Buchanan for over 10 years as safety director.
He was formerly employed at Whiteford Trucking and at Simplicity Pattern Company.
He earned an associates degree at Southwestern Michigan College. He was a former member of the Cass County Sheriff’s Auxiliary.
He enjoyed Corvettes and motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Tracey, Sr., who died on May 22, 1991.
Surviving family includes a son, Kyle Tracey of Niles; step-son, Shane Wagner of Holland; his mother, Doris W. Tracey of Niles; a sister, Winnie Barr of Niles; a brother, Hugh Tracey of Kalamazoo; two nieces and four nephews.
Bob gave the gift of life through organ donation. Contributions may be made to the Gift of Life.
