Services for late Cass County Treasurer to be hosted Friday

CASSOPOLIS — The flag at the Cass County government building will be flown at half-mast this week to mourn a long-serving civil servant.
The county is mourning the loss of Linda Pruett who died Sunday evening, following complications from surgery after a recent diagnosis of terminal cancer. Pruett was hired by Cass County in 1992 as a Deputy Probate Register and in 1996 became the Juvenile Register. In October 2002, Pruett was appointed Cass County Treasurer and was elected treasurer thereafter, continuously serving in that capacity until her death.
County Administrator Karen Folks, in a recently press release, described Pruett as “a vibrant, energetic and knowledgeable woman known equally for her straight forward opinions, as well as her friendliness and generosity. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.”
Cass County Administrative Offices will be closed for the afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. Friday to accommodate those that would like attend Pruett’s visitation, which will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frist United Methodist Church in Dowagiac.
Cass County is flying the flag at half-mast until after Pruett’s burial Saturday to honor her memory and her service to the county.
