News round-up: One injured in Jefferson Township crash Thursday

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — A Dowagiac woman was injured Thursday morning in a Jefferson Township crash, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the single vehicle crash at 3:35 a.m. Thursday on M-60 near Hospital Street in Jefferson Township.
Initial investigation shows that Alexandria Tackitt, 21, of Dowagiac, was eastbound on M-60 near Hospital Street when she left the roadway and struck a tree. Tackitt was transported by Medflight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for her injuries.
Tackitt was wearing her seatbelt, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, deputies said.
This crash remains under investigation at this time.
Assisting deputies on scene were Life Care Ambulance, Medflight and Cass Central Fire Department.
One injured in Pokagon Township motorcycle crash
POKAGON TOWNSHIP — A resident of Hillsdale, Michigan was injured Wednesday in a motorcycle crash on Indian Lake Road in Pokagon Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency personnel were called to the crash at 10:27 p.m. Wednesday on Indian Lake Road near Crystal Springs Road.
Initial investigation shows the crash occurred after a motorcycle operated by Mikeal Wagner, 37, of Hillsdale, Michigan, swerved to miss a deer. Wagner took evasive action, causing him to “lay” the motorcycle down. Wagner was taken to Lakeland Niles Hospital for treatment. At the time of the crash, Wagner was wearing a helmet.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Pokagon Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor, deputies said.
Police investigating hit-and-run crash
MARCELLUS — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run crash in Marcellus.
The crash was reported at 6 a.m. Thursday, according to deputies. According to information provided to deputies, a single vehicle heading eastbound on Main Street near Jones Street in Marcellus crossed center and struck a utility pole and stop sign. The driver is described as a Hispanic male driving a dark colored mid-sized SUV. The driver and vehicle left the scene prior to feputies arrival.
Sheriff Richard Behnke is requesting anyone with information on this crash to please contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
This crash remains under investigation.
