Big 16 names All-West Division squads

NILES - Division champion Benton Harbor and runner-up Niles dominated the first team of the Big 16 Conference All-West Division squad.
Benton Harbor's Courtney Webb, Tashayla Jackson, Charonne Coleman, Shante Clark and Destiney Williams were joined on the first team by Niles' Sarah Dreher and Brandie Raddie.
Also named to the first team were Dowagiac's Katy Stuppy and Holly Lowe.
St. Joseph and Lakeshore both had one player named to the first team as Megan Mejeur and Monica Gathright were selected by the coaches respectively.
Benton Harbor's Lou Harvey was named Coach of the Year.
Just three players were selected for the honorable mention portion of the team.
They were Jessica Shinsky and Megan Scameheorn of Niles and Becky Zierbart of St. Joseph.
Football
A second place finish in the Big 16 Conference West Division allowed the Dowagiac varsity football team to land five players on the first team.
The squad, which was released on Monday afternoon, featured 10 players from division champion Lakeshore.
Niles had three players named to the first team, while St. Joseph had five players on the first team. Benton Harbor had just three players named to the first team.

Big 16 Conference West Division soccer champion St. Joseph dominated the first team which was announced on Monday.
Chris Wagner, Ryan Berry, Steven Dahn, Nick Lafond and Sean O'Connell were all first team selections from St. Joseph.
Lakeshore's Austin Bock, Jeff Stusick, Kyle Hammermeister and Alex Boehm were also first team selections.
Dowagic landed a trio of players on the first team as Brian Edgerly, Pat Brosnan and Freddie Soto were tabbed by the coaches.
Also named to the squad were Michael Tanke and Jarred Rockafellow of Niles.
Benton Harbor's Christian Hamilton and Ernest Lloyd were first team picks.

For the third straight year, Dowagiac's Lisa Rubino is a member of the Big 16 Conference All-League tennis team.
Rubino finished her senior season with a 25-3 overall record.
Dowagiac's No. 1 doubles team of Calie Daniels and Lindsay Tyler, who were 16-11 on the season, were one of two doubles teams named to the honorable mention portion of the squad. St. Joseph's Kelly Calkins and Nina Davuluri were also honorable mention selections.
