Teen arrested on accusations of stabbing

CASSOPOLIS — A teenager was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly stabbing two victims on Water Street in Cassopolis, according to the Cassopolis Police Department.

Police were dispatched to Water Street at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday when a fight in progress was reported. Less than a minute later, Central Dispatch reported a possible stabbing on S. O’Keefe, about a block from Water Street.

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s and Cassopolis police departments located two male stabbing victims, a 15-year-old and a 20-year-old. Another 15-year-old male suspect was apprehended for the stabbing, and transferred to a juvenile detention facility.

The 15-year-old victim was transported to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac and later flown to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo by West Michigan Air Care. He is listed in stable condition. The 20-year-old sought his own treatment for his injuries.

The case remains under investigation.

The Cassopolis Police Department was assisted by the Cass County Sheriff, Michigan State Police, Pokagon Tribal Police and Edwardsburg Ambulance.
