Granger man dies following boat crash

MARCELLUS TOWNSHIP — A Granger man has died, succumbing to injuries sustained during a boating crash Saturday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
Police were dispatched to Big Fish Lake in Marcellus Township at 8:50 a.m. Saturday after a boat driven by Michael Mondovich, 55, of Granger, crashed into a pier and two boats.
After further investigation, police learned Mondovich may have been under the influence of alcohol. Original investigation determined Mandovich had experienced a severe medical episode. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is waiting to gather further information from the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death from this investigation.
Witnesses and first responders performed CPR on Mondvich at the scene before he was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital via PrideCare Ambulance, where he later died.
Marcellus Ambulance and Marcellus Fire Department assisted at the scene.
