Fernwood Photography Club,  Sunday, July 1

2 to 4 p.m — Open to all ages and levels of experience. Meetings last about 90 minutes, starting with a sharing and discussion of recent images shot by club members, followed by a monthly topical program. Fernwood’s Bluebirds,

Saturday, July 7

2 to 3:30 p.m. — After learning about their natural history and how to  attract them to nest in your backyard, walk a part of Fernwood’s bluebird trail to check on current nesting activity. $12 (Members $10). All children 10 and under are free.

From Mints to Milkweeds,

Sunday, July 8

1 to 2:30 p.m. — This class is about midsummer wildflowers with a special emphasis on two families, the mints and the milkweeds. There will be a presentation on the diverse species in each group followed by an afternoon walk through Fernwood’s gardens for $12 (Members $10)

Second Sunday Concert, Sunday, July 8

4 to 5 p.m. — WAUS Radio and Fernwood present another season of Second Sunday Concerts at Fernwood from May through September. Concerts take place on Fernwood’s Green. Admission is free after 3:30 p.m.

Summer Yoga, Wednesday, July 11

12:15 to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. — Yoga practice for people of all levels welcome to this a class that will incorporate both yang (energetic movement) and yin (restorative) poses. $12 (Members $10).

Death By Design, Wednesday, July 11

7 to 9 p.m. — An Environmental Film Festival presented by Chikaming Open Lands and Fernwood
at the Vickers Theatre, Three Oaks. Consumers love – and live on – their smartphones, tablets and laptops. A cascade of new devices pours endlessly into the market, promising even better communication, non-stop entertainment and instant information. In an investigation that spans the globe, filmmaker Sue Williams investigates the underbelly of the electronics industry and reveals how even the smallest devices have deadly environmental and health costs. $10 (Fernwood and COL Members $8)

Jon Meyer Nature Day Camps

Fernwood’s forests, pond, river and prairie serve as the classrooms for these day camps. Hikes along nature trails, fun games, educational activities and crafts open children to the wonders of nature while encouraging appreciation of the plants and animals of Michiana. Roy and Ethelbel Knauer Art Camps

Fernwood’s Roy and Ethelbel Knauer Art Camps combine the arts with natural sciences and are designed to stimulate curiosity, appreciation and knowledge of the natural world. Campers will use Fernwood’s gardens and natural areas to create big, bold and crazy projects that include drawing, painting, tie dye, sculpture and much more. Fernwood is a place where nature blends with gardens and art to create an experience for all ages. Fernwood comprises 105 acres on the St. Joseph River near Buchanan, at 13988 Range Line Road, Niles.
