Last call for booth registration at Summer in the City

DOWAGIAC — Final booth registration for commercial, craft and community groups wishing to display or sell items at the upcoming July 19 to July 21 Summer in the City Festival have until Tuesday, July 5, to complete their application, according to event organizers.

Vendor booth space is available for Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21.  Presented by the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce, the 33rd annual summertime gala is a family-oriented event, organizers said.

Registration is being taken for craft, commercial, nonprofit booth space, which measures approximately 10-feet on the street.

According to Vickie Phillipson, Chamber of Commerce program director, this is a great opportunity for businesses and community organizations to take center stage, as they network with the community they serve.

Booth space is $30 for a 10-foot booth per day.  Applications are available by calling (269) 782.8212  or by e-mail at vphillipson@Dowagiac.org.

New this year, Summer in the City kicks off at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19 with a Children’s Carnival, staged at Division and Railroad streets on the lawn of the former “Big Gray” industrial site.  Former American Idol contender Jared Knox and the Hagar Bombs return to the stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, performing on the grounds of the James E. Snow Professional Building at Front and Main.

Summer in the City opens downtown Friday at 10 a.m., where the zip line, climbing wall, children’s train and other attractions run through Saturday.  Festival highlights feature a presentation by the Kalamazoo Air Zoo on Friday, along with that evening’s craft brew tasting, presented by Sister Lakes Brewing Co. and performance by Nashville’s Kari Lynch Band on Beeson Street.  Saturday features hometown favorites Rebel Pride and performances by MKSOD and Miss Michele & Co., along with the Taste of Dowagiac.
