NILES — The Niles-Buchanan Branch of the YMCA of Southwest Michigan will host its annual Day in the Park event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16. This family-friendly, free event focuses on showcasing the Y’s fitness programs to encourage a healthy and fun lifestyle.
“Day in the Park is one way we’re able to give back to our community through health and fitness,” said Tiffany Rusher, aerobics director at the YMCA of Southwest Michigan. “It’s a great opportunity for people to try some of our most in-demand fitness classes and also see what other programs the Y has to offer.”
Fitness class demonstrations include:
• 10 to 10:20 a.m. — Boot Camp
• 10:25 to 10:45 a.m. — Power Pump
• 10:50 to 11:10 a.m. — PiYo
• 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. — Zumba
• 11:50 to 12:10 p.m. — Pound
• 12:15 to 12:35 p.m. — Barre
• 12:40 to 1 p.m. — Yoga
In addition to fitness class demos, Day in the Park will include grilled chicken lunch, smoothies, a bounce house, water slide, carnival games, a petting zoo, face painting, and more!
This year, Day in the Park is made possible through partnerships with the Niles Pregnancy Care Center and the Salvation Army.
“In order to have a larger reach and impact into our community we have partnered with the Niles Pregnancy Center and the Salvation Army,” said Rusher. “With this collaboration, we’re able to take this already fun and exciting event to the next level with extra food options, games and activities for the whole family.”
Day in the Park is a free, family-friendly community event. Registration is not required.
