Athlete Showcase: Dowagiac’s Huston

Tyler Huston is a sophomore on the Dowagiac baseball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
TH: Pinning a kid at regionals to help the team go to state.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
TH: Losing at individual districts in wrestling.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
TH: My uncle Bryan. He was my role model and showed me the game of baseball.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
TH: When all matches and games get close.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
TH: Trying to slide and my feet getting caught and falling onto he bag.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
TH: Push myself harder.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
TH: No other sports.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
TH: Because you can only do them once.
How would you give away $50,000?
TH: The Bryan Frazier Baseball Scholarship and the baseball program.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
TH: The Detroit Tigers.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
TH: Hang out with friends and play Fortnite.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
TH: Pitching.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
TH: The pitch count.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
TH: I work hard and I am improving at wrestling.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
TH: Hitting a 90 mph fastball, and yes, because I got a hit.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
TH: Bryce Harper hitting a 500-foot home run.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
TH: Sports, hunting and fishing, because I’ve always been around it.
