The Veterans of Foreign Wars and Daughter Auxiliary have announced the winners for the annual Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest.

The following Edwardsburg Middle School eighth grade students were selected at the Edwardsburg Veterans of Foreign War level: 1st place was Kaitlynne McGrath; 2nd place was Liliana Szalai and 3rd place was a tie between Clayton Edman and Quinlan Carrick.

The writing contest is based on how well the middle school students understood, developed and presented the theme of “America’s Gift to My Generation.”

McGrath’s essay advanced to the District Level where she attended a banquet to be honored for her success at both the Local and District Levels.
