BUCHANAN — Blue Star Mothers Chapter 193 recently filled 16 boxes with personal care and food items and sent them to service men and women that are stationed overseas.

Chapter 193 was formed three years ago and meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month, except December, at the Redbud City Center located at 131 S. Oak St., Buchanan.

In addition to sending packages to service people, the Blue Star Mothers also provide monthly bingo parties to veterans at a local assisted living facility.

Blue Star Mothers Chapter 193 officials said they welcome interested persons to attend meetings and seek mothers whose child serves, or has served in any branch of U.S. military, to join them in supporting the individuals who have chosen to keep the country safe through their service.
