EPS hosting Hall of Fame induction ceremony

EDWARDSBURG — Edwardsburg Public Schools’ 2017-18 EPS Hall of Fame inductee into is Scott L. Teter, who is being honored as a Student Activities Award winner. This tribute is given to an Edwardsburg graduate who performed with excellence in academics and/or co-curricular activities, while in the district and has been out of school for at least 10 years.

The Edwardsburg Public Schools Hall of Fame 11th annual induction ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, in the district’s Performing Arts Center.  A reception will follow the ceremony in the Hall of Fame lobby. The induction ceremony and reception are open to the public at no charge.

Nominations were solicited in spring 2017. A nominating committee reviewed the entries to ensure that criteria was met, and then forwarded its validation to a selection committee.

Every year in April, the school community and special guests join the Edwardsburg Public Schools Foundation in honoring inductees to the Edwardsburg Public Schools Hall of Fame. This event brings together current and former staff, school board members, foundation board directors, honorees and donors.

Scott earned the Hall of Fame honor by being involved in many activities in high school.  Scott was a state qualifier in wrestling, and named the Most Valuable Lineman in football. Additionally, he was instrumental in establishing the Academic Award for Excellence, and was a recipient of the honor. Scott was named Outstanding Male Vocalist in the school musical each year. He served as a student council representative, and attended Boys State at Michigan State University.

He earned a bachelor of arts in history from Kalamazoo College. At the collegiate level, Scott earned varsity letters in wrestling and football. He graduated from Cooley Law School and then married Susan Christensen. They have three children, Ashli, Austin, and Zachary.

From 1992-2003, Scott served in the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office and was selected as the Prosecutor of the Year in 1998 by the Michigan Family Support Council. Scott was appointed co-chair of the Child Support Leadership Council by Governor John Engler in 2002. He formed a Child Abuse and a Domestic Violence Task Force in Cass County.

Scott has led statewide and national trainings on abuse and violence. In 2003, he joined the Office of Attorney General. He began the Child Support Division, and then moved to the Health Care Fraud Division. Currently, Scott is the First Assistant Attorney General of the Corporate Oversight-Criminal Division in Michigan.
