Niles, Brandywine split games

NILES — The Niles and Brandywine baseball teams split games with Coloma and Berrien Springs respectively Tuesday.
The Vikings lost to the Comets 8-3 in the opening game only to rebound in the nightcap 6-0.
The Bobcats defeated Berrien Springs 4-3 in the first game of the BCS Athletic Conference doubleheader before falling to the Shamrocks 11-0 in the nightcap.
Niles baseball
After falling in the opener, the Vikings used a four-run first inning to get off to a great start in the nightcap.
Niles finished with six hits, including a triple by Chad Barton and a double by Johnny Bybee.
Brayden Lake went the distance, tossing a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to earn the victory.
Brandywine baseball
In the opening-game victory for the Bobcats, Joey Covyeou picked up the victory in relief.
Brandywine scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.
The Bobcats had nine hits, including a double by Covyeou.
