Police searching for suspect involved in two fatal shootings in Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR — Two men were fatally shot Sunday in the 900 block of LaVette in Benton Harbor and police are now searching for the suspect involved, according to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.

Police responded to the location on the complaint of a shooting, where they found two males injured, including Cortez Miller, 22 and Michael Johnson, 29.

Both males died of their injuries while being transported to Lakeland Hospital.

Antwan Tamon “Tank” Mims

Police said the suspect in this incident is Antwan Tamon “Tank” Mims. Police described Mims as a 40-year-old African American male. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Mims may be attempting to flee the area, possibly headed to Indianapolis, Indiana. Officers are actively seeking Mims and warrants are pending.

BHDPS officers were assisted by the Michigan State Police Major Crimes Unit, Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, FBI VCTF and Berrien County Homicide Task Force.
