Niles’ Garner gets invite to Chicago Cubs major league spring training camp

The Associated Press is reporting that former Niles standout David Garner is one of 18 non-roster players to be invited to their major league spring training camp.

Garner, who finished the 2017 season at Triple A Iowa, was one of nine pitchers invited to camp.

The Cubs also invited veteran catcher Chris Giminez, four infielders, three other cathers and a pair of outfielders.

Garner is already in Arizona preparing for the opening of spring training.

Pitchers are catchers begin workouts Feb. 14 with the rest of the team to join them on Feb. 19.
