VICKSBURG — The Brandywine wrestling team went 4-1 at the Vicksburg Invitational on Saturday.

The Bobcats defeated Three Rivers 43-32, Coloma 45-30, Martin 40-34 and Decatur 45-20.

Schoolcraft defeated Brandywine 51-37.

Going undefeated on the day were Hunter Health (119/125), Steven Kendall (135) and Grant Lerner (189).

Posting 4-1 records were Aaron Lauri (119/125) and Mathew Cox (130).

 

Niles bowlers sweep past Brandywine at Allegan

ALLEGAN — The Brandywine and Niles boys bowling teams split a pair of matches on Saturday.

The Bobcats defeated the Vikings 16-14 in a varsity match, while Niles defeated the Brandywine JV 27-3.

Blake Sarratore rolled a 326 series for the Vikings, while Andrew Wozniak rolled a 327 series.

Chris Howard led Niles with a 403 series in the first match.

Howard rolled a 368 series in the second match, with Matt McKeel rolling a 336 and Sarratore rolling a 308.

The Niles girls bowling team defeated the Brandywine varsity 20-10.

Paige Hall led the way with a 315 series, while Kendell Loughary finished with a 278 and Shelby Jaynes a 247.

The Vikings also defeated the Bobcats’ JV squad 27-3.

Hall rolled a 352 series with Loughary and Morgan Smith finishing with a 273 and 259 series respectively.

Brandywine results were unavailable at press time.

 

Weather forces cancellations, postponements Tuesday

The first big lake effect snow event of the year has forced the cancellation of most all of the area boys and girls basketball games Tuesday night.

Niles against Kalamazoo Loy Norrix games were postponed until Thursday, Dec. 21.

Dowagiac’s home and away girls and boys basketball games with Plainwell were postponed until Wednesday, Dec. 20.

The Brandywine basketball doubleheader at Fennville was cancelled, while the White Pigeon and Cassopolis boys and girls basketball games were postponed with no makeup date announced.

Also postponed without a makeup date announced were Edwardsburg and Paw Paw, and Covert at Buchanan.
