Pears Mill is located on 121 South Oak St. in downtown Buchanan. This water mill is the last water powered mill out of 13 that are still in downtown.

When it was built in 1857, Pears Mill operated grindstone and produced yellow and white corn meal.

Today, the mill is operated by the Buchanan Preservation Society and has exhibits inside, including milling tools, maps, photos and other artifacts. (Leader photos/EMILY SOBECKI)
