The Big Reds are making their ninth playoff appearance since 2007. Lansing Sexton was state runner-up up on 2014 after falling to Grand Rapids South Christian 28-27 in the Division 4 title game.
In 2013, the Big Reds lost to Marine City 12-7 in the state semifinals.
This season, Lansing Sexton won its first three games before losing back-to-back games to Grand Ledge and Jackson. The Big Reds’ other loss was to East Lansing 9-7.
Lansing Sexton defeated Lansing Eastern, Lake Odessa-Lakewood and Plainwell to advance to the regional finals.
The Big Reds edged the Trojans 28-25 last Friday to win their district championship.
Edwardsburg avenged its lone loss of the 2017 season with a 30-12 victory over Three Rivers last Friday night.
The Eddies are in the state playoffs for the eighth consecutive year and in the regional championship game for the third time in four years.
Edwardsburg was a state semifinalist last season and in 2014.
Saugatuck at Cassopolis
The Indians advanced to the Division 7 regional championship game with a 14-8 win over Vermontville-Maple Valley last Friday night.
Saugatuck rushed for 184 yards against the Lions, including 92 yards by Jake Stewart.

The Indians are in the playoffs for a third straight season. Saugatuck lost to Pewamo-Westphalia in the district championship game each of the previous two seasons.
The Rangers are making their third straight appearance in the regional championship game. Cassopolis defeated Concord 51-14 last year and Bridgman 48-14 in 2015.
Overall, this is the Rangers’ fifth consecutive playoff appearance and their 11th in the last 12 years.
In last week’s win over Reading, Cassopolis had to rally from a 16-7 second-half deficit to pull out the 31-16 victory.
The Rangers (10-1) used a mix of defense, running and passing to get the job done against the Reading Rangers.
Hunter Parsons picked off an Alex Price pass and returned it 69 yards to open the scoring last Friday night, while Tyrese Hunt-Thompson had a four-yard rushing and a 34-yard pass receiving touchdown for Cassopolis.
Quarterback Dylan Green also scored on a two-yard run, while Brandon Anderson kicked a 22-yard field goal.
After playing all three of its home playoff games at Decatur last season due to field construction, veteran Cassopolis coach Dan Purlee was happy to be able to win another championship on their true home field.
“I love it,” Purlee said. “We are happy to be at home and happy to have this celebration on our home turf. Hopefully we can have another one next week.”
