We would like to take the time to thank all of those student/athletes who have participated in fall athletics.
The season is quickly winding down with girls basketball as the lone sport with regular season games remaining.
Soccer season has reached the regional round, while the football playoffs are heading into the District finals on Friday and Saturday.
Dowagiac is the lone remaining soccer team in post season play. The Chieftains will play in Grandville against Forest Hills Eastern on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
We would like to wish the Chieftains good luck in their regional semifinal match.
Cross Country will hold its state finals this Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
The regionals were held this past weekend and while many of the area runners competed well, only Niles' Samantha Brawley advanced to the finals.
Brawley will be making her second consecutive appearance in the finals. Good luck.
Area football teams, with the exception of Edwardsburg and Dowagiac, wrapped up their seasons two weeks ago.
The Eddies and Chieftains both qualified for the Division 4 playoffs.
Both teams were defeated in the opening round by Comstock and Paw Paw respectively.
The two schools turned in solid performances throughout the year and we congratulate them for their efforts.
We would also like to point out that the other area teams, Niles, Brandywine, Buchanan and Cassopolis should be proud of their efforts this past season.
Girls tennis wrapped up a couple of weeks ago, but congratulations to Brandywine, Buchanan and Dowagiac for once again qualifying for the state finals.
All three teams played well throughout the season and battled to the bitter end for the regional title which Dowagiac won on the final match of the tournament.
Each and every member of these squads, along with their coaches, parents and fans, should be proud of the way these young men and women competed this past fall.
They entertained us throughout the year and we expect them to provide us with even more thrills and chills next fall.
