BENTON TOWNSHIP - Through an unanimous decision, the Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Randall Miller as its final candidate for the position of president at Lake Michigan College.
The Board will enter into contract negotiations with Dr. Miller within the next several days. The Board hopes to have the new president on board by Jan. 1, 2006.
Last Friday, representatives from the College and the LMC Board of Trustees visited the campuses of Dr. Miller and the other finalist, Dr. Beverly Simone, as the final part of the search process.
Dr. Miller is executive vice chancellor of Wayne County Community College District, Michigan, and concurrently serves as president of the District's Western Campus.
He began his tenure at WCCCD as president of the Downriver Campus in 2001. Prior to WCCCD, Dr. Miller was the vice president for College Relations for Henry Ford Community College. He holds a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern California. He is also a graduate of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, where he completed a year of advanced study in administration, planning, and social policy.
A 17-member search committee made up of members of the Board, College faculty and staff, as well as community members was selected in June to lead the selection process.
In September they interviewed and chose to move four candidates forward for Board consideration.
During the first week of October, the four candidates met with College employees, the Board, and the community during a series of open forums at all four LMC sites.
