CASSOPOLIS — The Cassopolis volleyball team got off to another fast start, but could not maintain it in a 3-1 loss to visiting White Pigeon Tuesday night.

With both teams sporting their special Patriot Game uniforms, the Rangers jumped out to an early a 12-6 lead on the Chiefs.

White Pigeon would rally to cut the Cassopolis lead to 19-17 before falling 25-20.

“We started off strong tonight communicating and working together as a team,” Cassopolis coach Demi Schrader said. “As the night went on, we started to lose that. Things just weren’t clicking. We had some really great points that we earned after a long rally, yet we also made many mistakes which gave them points that they didn’t have to work for.”

From there the Chiefs took over.

White Pigeon defeated Cassopolis 25-17 in the second set, 25-17 in the third set and 25-23 in the final set.

Maile Barber and Sophia Fiala led the team in kills with nine.

Barber also had 11 digs, while Fiala had a pair of block assists.

Madison Suseland had six kills, a solo block and an ace. Angel Gary finished with seven kills and four digs.

The Rangers were also defeated by Decatur in Southwest 10 Conference action last Thursday 3-1.

The Raiders defeated Cassopolis 25-16, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-17.

At the New Buffalo tournament on Saturday, the Rangers split with White Pigeon before losing to Bridgman and Michigan Lutheran.

The Rangers return to the court Saturday as they compete in the Decatur Invitational.

Cassopolis will host Eau Claire Sept. 26 in Southwest 10 action. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
