First home game in 12 weeks results in big win for Cassopolis

CASSOPOLIS — For the first time in 12 weeks dating back to the 2016 season, the Cassopolis football team was able to run out onto William F. Scott Field Friday night.
After playing three home games last season, the Rangers hit the road for the final nine games of the 2016 season.
Cassopolis opened up with three road games at Bangor, Decatur and White Pigeon before returning home where it defeated Bloomingdale 48-13 to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Brandon Anderson and Tyrese Hunt Thompson both scored a pair of touchdowns for the Rangers.
Anderson opened the scoring with a 46-yard run and also scored on a four-yard run. Anderson finished with 86 yards on seven carries.
Hunt-Thompson took a short pass from quarterback Xander Smith and turned it into a 70-yard touchdown. He also scored on a 12-yard run. Hunt-Thompson added 59 yards on 11 carries and finished the night with a combined 129 yards of offense.
Xander Smith scored for the Rangers on a 22-yard pass, while Aiden Dahlgren completed the scoring with a 13-yard run.
Casssopolis had 358 yards rushing and another 96 passing to finish with a 454-172 advantage in total yards.
Bloomingdale scored back-to-back touchdowns, the second after recovering an on-side kick, to take a 13-8 lead into the second quarter.
Karl Butler hauled in a 25-yard pass from Caleb Hosier for the Cardinals’ first touchdown, while Hosier connected with Tyler Campbell from 23 yards out for the second score.
