Rangers 2-0 after shutout of Decatur

DECATUR — Visiting Cassopolis improved to 2-0 on the season and the Southwest 10 Conference with its second consecutive shutout last Thursday night.
The Rangers routed Decatur 42-0 behind a strong running game and stout defense.
Cassopolis rushed for 326 yards, while holding the Raiders (1-1) to just 82 yards on the ground.
The Rangers threw for another 17 yards to end the night with 343 yards of total offense.
Decatur added 84 yards through the air for a total of 166 yards.
Hunter Parsons rushed for 142 yards on 12 carries and scored a touchdown for the Rangers, who also got 71 yards and a pair of scores from Tyrese Hunt-Thompson.
Brandon Anderson added 54 yards on seven carries with KyJuan Lanier and Dylan Green both scoring touchdowns.
Defensively, Cassopolis was led by Parsons and Lanier with nine tackles each.
Xander Smith picked off a pair of Decatur passes, while Hunt-Thompson and TaShaun Morris also intercepted passes. Morris returned his for a touchdown.
Cassopolis remains on the road Friday night as it heads to White Pigeon for a 7 p.m. contest against the Chiefs.
