Dowagiac’s Little wins race, but Sturgis wins meet

STURGIS — Sophomore Shawn Little of Dowagiac grabbed first place at the Wolverine Conference cross country dual meet hosted by Sturgis, but the Chieftains did not have enough runners to post a team score Tuesday.

Little ran a time of 18:05 to beat runner-up Jake Bundy of Sturgis by more than a minute. Bundy posted a time of 19:45.

David Napier finished seventh overall with a time of 22:28.

Dowagiac was also short-handed in the girls race and did not post a time score.

The Trojans’ Meg Scheske ran a time of 21:47 to win the face.

Dowagiac’s Kellyn Daly was 10th overall with a time of 27:12.
