CENTREVILLE — Host Sturgis bested the Wolverine Conference golf field by six shots to increase its overall lead in the league standings Monday.

The Trojans shot 205 as a team, led by Katie Horn’s medalist effort of 43.

Allegan was second with a 211, while Three Rivers was third with a 228. Dowagiac finished sixth overall in the second league jamboree after shooting 250 at Island Hills.

Sturgis now had a three-point lead over runner-up Three Rivers (16-13). The Chieftains are currently sixth with seven points.

Rebecca Franklin cracked the top 10 for the second straight outing after finishing ninth overall with a round of 53.

The Wolverine Conference is hosting its doubleheader Wednesday at Lake Doster in Plainwell.
