The Southwestern Michigan College All-Star Intramural basketball team competed in the Great Lakes 5-on-5 Shoot Out recently at Central Michigan University.
The tournament included intramural teams from 25 colleges and universities and SMC was the only community college represented.
The SMC team finished 1-3 in the tournament. The team lost 62-50 to Detroit-Mercy on the first day of competition. On the second day, Central Michigan outlasted SMC for a 52-47 overtime decision and then SMC came back to beat Western Michigan 45-41. Finally, SMC lost 54-38 to Central Michigan on the final day of competition.
Representing SMC in the tournament were Dowagiac' Allen Billingham, Brandon Turner, Jason Steinman, Chris Cosey, Jerrod Boyd and Ron Spicher; Jake Gunn of Niles; Clarence Kelly of Edwardsburg; Ryan Isbrecht of Hartford; and Troy Ogrin of Marcellus.
Turner was the tournament's 3-point shoot out champion.
