Richard Farrell, 74, of Niles, passed away at home Saturday, May 13, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Richard was born May 21, 1942, to the late Richard and Ethel (Moser) Farrell in Niles.
He graduated from Niles High School with the class of 1960. He was in the Niles High School concert and marching band.
He taught high school science in Eau Claire for two years and went on to graduate from Indiana University. He moved to Hawthorne, California, where he went on to become a respiratory therapist at Daniel Freeman Hospital, from where he retired after 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Jerry Farrell of Anaheim, California, and Patti (Eddie) Quinones of Conway, Arkansas; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters Jackie Farrell-Bonebright of Niles, Jo Ann Goodman-Farrell of Clearwater, Florida; special cousin Julie Farrell-Wisner of Niles; longtime friend Fred Avalos of Niles; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and close friends; and his special dog, Oreo.
Funeral services will be hosted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles, with a time of visitation for an hour prior.
Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s name to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085, and the American Cancer Society.
