Chieftains lose four over the weekend

SOUTH HAVEN — The Dowagiac baseball team dropped a pair of 4-3 decisions to host South Haven in Wolverine Conference non-divisional play Friday.

Brenden Dudley took the loss in the opener as the Rams scored three earned runs on eight hits. Dudley struck out three.

Dowagiac had eight hits in the contest, including a single and a double by Ellijah Williams. Duan Simpson also had two hits. Dudley singled and drove in a pair of runs.

In the nightcap, Mack Charles did not allow an earned run in suffering the setback for the Chieftains. Charles scattered eight hits and struck out three.

Dowagiac had five hits in the game, including a pair of doubles by Austin Jones.

Dowagiac at St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH — The Chieftains continued to struggle offensively against the host Bears, falling 8-1 and 5-4 Saturday.

Adrien Bucha-Moore took the loss as he worked three innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts. Brandon Felthouse worked three innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.

The Chieftains had just three hits in the opening game, all singles.

In the nightcap, Duan Simpson took the loss in relief of starter Williams, who pitched the first three innings.

Dowagiac banged out 11 hits in the second game, including two each by Williams, Simpson, Dudley and Zech Huston.
